About The Doctor:
My name is Dr. Phaedra Iafano and my passion in life is horses. I graduated from Parker College of Chiropractic in 2005. I am a Doctor of Chiropractic as well as a certified Animal Chiropractor. I completed my post doctorate in Animal Chiropractic in 2006 and am certified by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA). I have been blessed with the opportunity to be surrounded by horses for most of my life. My parents bought me my first pony when I was four years old. Shortly thereafter my family & I were showing on the Palomino circuit, which shifted into Pony Club and later on to Hunter Jumpers for me. My father branched into Polo and my mom moved on to Dressage. When I graduated from high school, I took off to Michigan State University with only my horse and my dreams of one day working with horses. Since I was too tall to be a jockey, I had to think of something else! As much as I loved horses, I knew in my heart that I couldn't be a Veterinarian since I am not very good with blood and surgery. I wanted to touch horses lives and give back to them in a way that they had touched and forever changed mine. As it turns out, my horse at the time was a thoroughbred gelding off the track that was under chiropractic care. He was having some issues in his pelvis and the chiropractic adjustments were radically helping him.....and so my wheels began to turn.....
Fast forward to present day where I am working part time adjusting humans and on my days off I am blessed to be able to adjust horses. I must confess that nothing beats the smell of walking into a barn and your nose is greeted by the comforting and familiar scents of horse dander, alfalfa and sweet feed all at once! My goal as an Equine Chiropractor is to help each horse obtain and then maintain their optimal performance by decreasing pain and increasing function one spine at a time through gentle, effective chiropractic adjustments.
